Former Federal MP releases Australian political thriller on Aboriginal sovereignty

    18 March 2021

Author Richard Evans’ third political thriller, Forgotten People has been released at a timely moment during the national debate on First Nation sovereignty and treaty discussions in Victoria.

Forgotten People follows the story of an Aboriginal revolutionary demanding a parliamentary resolution to reclaim sovereignty for the First Nations of Australia, arguing that two hundred and fifty years is too long to wait for justice.

Being a political thriller, it is not long before the government is placed in a position to respond to the demands or pay the price of revolution.

As one reviewer said, “Forgotten People gives you something to think about.”

Richard’s passion for resolution of sovereignty rights included addresses to the federal parliament encouraging a new approach and new thinking to the unresolved issue of First Nations’ sovereignty.

“Australia holds a respected position as a leading international nation, but we have not achieved peace and healing with our First Nations,” Richard said.

“We need leadership with open hearts on both sides of the debate, not closed minds. This should not be an either/or debate; rather, we must consider options different to the current polarising narrative. Closed minds only leads to conflict and history shows this attitude never ends well.”

Forgotten People is a gripping Australian political thriller featuring surprising plot twists, compelling characters, and a fearless female heroine.

Evans brings an insider’s knowledge of the machinations of politics and parliament to Forgotten People with future books in his Referendum Series focusing on contemporary issues such as euthanasia, the republic, and water rights.

“My book tosses up an ‘out-of-the-box’ idea, but there are plenty of others we can be talking about to achieve what the goodwill of most Australians want.”

If you like fast-paced, page-turning thrillers then Richard Evans’ third book will not disappoint.

Forgotten People is now online, at major retailers and local bookstores, and signed copies available at the Parliament House Shop, Canberra.
